Gigha is one of the most Southern Inner Hebrides and boasts white sandy beaches and temperate weather. Ardminish bay displays the most amazing azure blues through to the most stunning green crystal-clear waters. I have been so lucky to call this place my home for most of my life, spending my career in Glasgow but Gigha inevitably pulled me back. https://visitgigha.co.uk/Island-Life
About me (Morven) After studying horticulture and struggling with controlling my eczema I started looking at how plants could possibly help me and Gigha’s natural Skincare was born! As well as making and retailing our products I offer holistic therapies including Be Activated massage, and teach reiki to master level. I am a passionate cold-water swimmer and love to walk and hike the hills in my spare time.
I first met Annamaria a couple of years ago on Gigha where I was born and raised when she wandered into my workshop with a kombucha scoby and the rest is history, we share a love of Yoga, Gigha, swimming, walking and restorative body work. Got chatting about a kombucha scoby and shortly after a plan for our yoga retreat was conceived!
We are excited to welcome you to Gigha and as soon as you get on the short 20-minute ferry journey you will soon find you leave your cares behind. This weekend is immersive we will use the magical calming energies of Gigha which will leave you more connected and ready to embrace any challenges ahead.
Introducing Annamaria - Annamaria started practising yoga in 1991, when she first came to Scotland and started teaching 25 years ago. She was a senior Iyengar teacher, and an elder on the Independent Yoga Network. Annamaria has been a direct pupil of Firooza Ali Razvi since 2004 as well as being her UK tours and Scottish retreat organiser from 2006 until the pandemic. Over the years Annamaria served on the IYAUK board as Scottish rep. She created and ran her own yoga and therapy studio for 20 years, Yoga Stable, in Edinburgh and served the local community for 20 years. She has been instrumental to the founding of Studio6.20 Edinburgh, a centre for the development of somatic studies and yoga and movement practices. Annamaria is now a mentor, teacher trainer, supervisor and retreat leader. She is also a craniosacral therapist with an orientation to the pre and perinatal field and an Integrative Baby Therapy (IBT) practitioner. Her business is Body Symphonies in Edinburgh in St Margaret’s House.
She likes to create retreats that are full warmth, fun, laughter and bring community together. Her teaching is tailored to suit everybody’s needs. She has been visiting Gigha for 30 years and would love to share her love of the island. When not teaching Annamaria travels in her van taking photographs, writes, draws and is a very keen forager and dancer.
